Lighters

Lighters — Reliable Ignition Hardware

A lighter is the simplest, fastest fire-starting tool — when it works. SRO's Lighters collection covers windproof lighters, refillable butane, fluid lighters, and the specialty igniters that handle conditions where regular lighters fail.

Lighter categories by environment

Butane disposable — cheap, light, fails in cold and wind. Refillable butane (Zippo windproof) — works in wind, refillable for years of use. Fluid lighters (classic Zippo) — work in cold and damp. Plasma/arc lighters — windproof, rechargeable USB, no flame visible. See Fire Starting Tools & Supplies for ferro rods and tinder.

Why carry multiple methods

Every ignition method has a failure mode — wind, cold, moisture, depleted fuel. Serious fire kits carry at least two redundant methods: a primary lighter and a backup ferro rod or match container.

Pair with Fire Starting Tools, Heating, and Survival Tools.

Minimum lighter kit: one refillable windproof lighter, one waterproof match container, one ferro rod. Three methods, three failure points covered.
