Heat wave safety: cooling, water and the signs of heat stroke

In a heat wave, stay somewhere cool, keep drinking water, and check on anyone older or living alone. Heat stroke is an emergency: a body temperature above 103°F, hot red skin, confusion or fainting means call 911. Fans help only below about 90°F indoors; above that, get to air conditioning.
