About North American Rescue

North American Rescue — Built by Military Medics

North American Rescue (NAR) was founded in 1996 in Greer, South Carolina by seasoned military medics who saw the gaps in field medical equipment firsthand and built the kit to fill them. Their patented Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) has been the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army since 2005, and is credited with cutting battlefield extremity-bleed mortality by 85%.

The CAT and beyond

NAR's gear is standard issue across U.S. military units, tactical EMS, and law enforcement worldwide — Combat Application Tourniquets, chest seals (HyFin vented and non-vented), decompression needles, IFAKs, and the trauma kit that probably saved someone's life today. See the Mission Tools & Accessories collection for related field-medical gear.

Built for real trauma

Every product in the NAR lineup has been refined based on documented battlefield use. The CAT alone went through multiple iterations to reach the current Gen 7 — each refinement based on real-world data from combat medics and first responders.

Pair with the broader medical kit

NAR products integrate with complete survival kits, EDC trauma kits, and MOLLE IFAK pouches. Hyfin chest seals pair with CAT tourniquets and decompression needles for full TCCC-compliant gunshot-and-trauma response kit.

If you're building a trauma kit from zero, start with one CAT tourniquet and one HyFin vented chest seal. Those two items cover the highest-mortality preventable battlefield injuries — even at home.
