Patches — Velcro-Compatible Identity and Function
Velcro patches do two jobs: identify and carry. The identification side covers flag patches, blood-type indicators, IFF designators, and morale patches. The carry side — pioneered by Superesse Straps — turns morale patches into hidden-storage micro kits. SRO carries both ends of the spectrum.
Identity patches
Brand patches, flag patches, blood-type / IFF morale patches, custom-art patches from Pull Patch. The shared standard: hook-side backing that attaches to standard loop fields on tactical gear, hats, and packs. See Patches & Stickers for the full collection including non-patch decals.
Functional patches with hidden storage
Superesse Straps' patch line includes laser-cut storage pockets behind printed reference content (Foraging Guide, Stop Bleed & CPR, Morse + Tap Code, Marksmanship Fundamentals, Emergency Comms & ICE). Each patch carries both information AND a 2x3 inch interior compartment. See the Superesse Straps brand collection for the full lineup.
Pair with packs and apparel
Patches need a host. Pack accessories include loop-panel admin pouches. Tactical apparel (M-Tac jackets, Arrowhead athleisure) typically includes loop fields. EDC kits benefit from a wearable hidden-storage patch on a daily-carry hat or daypack.
If you've never worn a hidden-storage patch, start with a Foraging Guide or Stop Bleed reference — both function as printed knowledge AND on-body kit, and the dual-purpose value becomes obvious the first time you use it.
