The Revolution in Compact Bleeding Control
The ETQ™ Gen 2 by Snakestaff Systems is a next-generation everyday carry tourniquet engineered with real-world feedback and patent-pending innovations. More than just an upgrade, it’s a breakthrough in how compact tourniquets perform under pressure—when seconds count and failure is not an option.
Whether you're an overlander, first responder, or building a serious go-bag, this is the tourniquet built for those who live prepared.
What’s New in Gen 2
-
✅ Power Curve Technology – Curved slot design evenly distributes pressure, reducing tissue damage vs. traditional straight-slot TQs.
-
✅ Tri-Grip Windlass – Flat grip surfaces improve control and leverage; stronger than aluminum, made from aerospace-grade composite.
-
✅ Windlass Ring (Patent Pending) – Reinforced ring adds torque control and makes tightening significantly easier.
-
✅ Optimized TQ Body & Routing – Minimizes user error by keeping the band straighter under pressure—even if not pre-tightened.
-
✅ Larger Carabiner Opening – Easier windlass stowage, especially after multiple twists.
-
✅ Webbing-Backed Hook & Loop – Resists folding and sticking to itself, allowing faster application under stress.
-
✅ Clear Instructions + QR Code – Printed step-by-step guidance on the TQ + scannable training video.
-
✅ Blue Trainer Available – Dedicated training version sold separately for realistic, repeatable practice.
⚠ Why No Chemlight?
Gen 1’s integrated chemlight was removed due to accidental activation during EDC and shipping—Gen 2 improves reliability.

Commonly Asked Questions
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE EMAILING US!
Is the ETQ wide enough?
If you cut open the most widely used TQ by LE and Militaries around the world you’ll find that it’s only a 1” wide piece of inner webbing that’s doing the constricting. The outer 1.5” sleeve does not constrict. Don’t believe us, try tightening one of those on a foam roller next to the ETQ™ for 30 min. You’ll see they leave the same imprint. 1” wide.
1” has been good enough to stop the bleed for years. If you want a wider TQ, take a look out our ETQ Wide™
What kind of testing was performed?
The ETQ™ and ETQ Wide™ have been proven to cut off blood flow using doppler and ultrasound at a level 5 trauma unit. We went through extensive testing of its durability and windlass strength in extreme weather conditions. Watch the Torture Test Here.
Does the ETQ™ and ETQ Wide™ work on children and K9’s?
We kept small diameter limbs in mind during the design process. It can constrict down to 1” diameter, which is significantly smaller than other TQ’s, making it a great option for children and dogs.
Is the ETQ CoTCCC recommended?
Contrary to popular belief, manufacturers cannot submit tourniquets to the Committee of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) for review whenever they want. Instead, CoTCCC organizes review sessions at their choosing. CoTCCC has only done two TQ reviews in the last 20 years, the most recent of which was in 2019.
Therefore, the ETQ and ETQ Wide have not yet been reviewed by the CoTCCC.
We’ve been in regular contact with CoTCCC members however, there is no indication that another TQ review is happening any time soon. In fact, there are indications that CoTCCC will no longer be doing TQ reviews at all.
In lieu of this we’re currently working with several universities to conduct independent, published, clinical trials on our ETQs however none of them have concluded at the moment.
We’ve also done numerous color doppler ultrasound tests, some of which are posted on the “Videos” tab on our website.
We will continue to pursue independent, third-party testing and publish the data as it becomes available, so customers can make their own informed decisions.
Will you offer different colors?
Not at this time but in the future we will have other color options to be used for trainers.
Warranty:
While tourniquets are inherently a one-time use item we stand behind our product. ETQ’s come with a lifetime warranty covering any manufacturing defects. This does not include repeated use as a trainer. Contact us for warranty and returns.

ETQ™ Emergency Instructions
ETQ Ultrasound Test
In this example, the ETQ™ stops blood flow after two turns, however you should twist the windlass as many times as possible in a real situation.
